School Board
The Board of the Australian Islamic Colleges Ltd was formed in May 2017. Remuneration is not received for the positions, and a College Board member is not eligible to be simultaneously a Board member and employee of the College. The Executive Principal attends all Board meetings as an Ex-Officio Member. Every Board member complies with best-practice governance requirements by having a National Police Clearance and by signing a declaration regarding eligibility to hold the position as a fit and responsible person.
The role of the Board is to govern the College, while it is the function of the Executive Principal to manage the organisation in accordance with the policies and directions set by the College Board. The Board establishes the strategic framework for College policies and implementation of these is the responsibility of the Executive Principal. The Board and the Executive Principal work in partnership for the overall wellbeing of the College and its students. The Board must comply with all relevant statutory regulations.
Communication on Board matters is the responsibility of the Chairman. Therefore individual Board members are not at liberty to discuss (outside the meetings) any policies or business under consideration. Once a decision has been made by the Board it is documented and then communicated to the College community, either by direct communication from the Chairman or through implementation processes overseen by the Executive Principal.
