Year 9: Civics and Citizenship
This term, the Year 9 students were introduced to the concept of Civics and Citizenship. They learned about how a government is formed. They gained an understanding of the Australian Political Parties and their goals. Finally, students learned the key features of Australian Court System and how courts apply, interpret the laws and resolve disputes
Year 10: Civics and Citizenship
This term, the Year 10 students were introduced to the concept of Civics and Citizenship. They developed understanding of the key features and values of Australia’s system of government compared with at least one other system of government in the Asian region. They gained knowledge of separation of power, systems of checks and balances. They learned the importance of the High Court and the interpretation of the Constitution and International Law. They learned the various High Court cases, its interpretations and its impacts on our daily lives today.
