Year 7

English Language and Literature

Family relationship, community connection and fortitude were the focus of discussion through the Novel- ‘Holes’. Students imbibed Narrative Essay Writing techniques in detail giving importance to plot, twist (climax) and conclusion.

Civics and Citizenship

‘Government and Democracy’ and ‘Citizenship, laws and responsibility’ were the topics for study. Students learned about the type of Government we have in Australia, the election process and formation of democratic government in this country. They learned about the power of the Governor General, Ministers and the Queen. Laws, rules and responsibilities of the politicians, residents, ministers and citizens. Introduction of Bills to make new laws and the types of laws in Australia were for discussion. Abiding the rules and being a responsible resident of this country was the topic of discussion.  Students viewed PowerPoints and videos for better understanding.

Mathematics

Students completed their study on Equations, polygons, and currently on measurement. Exercises from the Haese Text and EP tasks completed effectively.

Year 8

Mathematics

Students completed their study on Measurement: Length and Area, Surface Area and Volume. Currently they are working on Ratio and proportion. Exercises from the text and EP completed effectively.

In short, Term 3 was a very successful and productive period for the students in general. The students’ enthusiasm and their motivation to engage in activities and tasks is much appreciated.
