Dear Parents and Care givers,

Assalaam-U- Alaikum and a very warm welcome!!

We at AIC kindergarten would like to extend a warm welcome to all the children and families in the grouping.

We look forwards to work with you and your children in partnership to provide best possible opportunities for your child’s development. The environment is surely different to the home setting and can be a bit challenging for some of the children. So please feel free to exchange information with the teachers at AIC kindergarten or any concerns relating to your child’s progress and development.

I would request the families to provide their valuable input/ give feedback, either positive or as an area of development, whenever possible. It will be a strong base for improvement for the operation planning and programming purpose further beneficial for your child.

Current Focus

Our current focus for the entire term is to establish positive and strong relationships with the existing children and their families. We have had discussions and learning opportunities available for the children to understand and respect own feelings and emotions and of others. We have also had open discussions at group time familiarising children to increase a sense of responsibility contributing towards school readiness skills. On the other hand we as educators are focused on providing a well -balanced program to cater for varied developmental needs of the children with varied skill levels.

Group Goal

Is to make the children feel safe, secured and supported to further enable them to build trust and relationships in the room with the educators and their peers throughout their day at care and outside the care as well.

In addition, the kindy team works towards making children independent learners and become more confident and resilient which contributes towards their school readiness.

Activities

Due to hot and humid weather conditions, we have been keeping children busy with various opportunities and learning experiences like literacy, numeracy, water play, sensory play, group times, art and crafts and constructions. We try to maintain a balance of indoor-outdoor play to enhance children’s learning.

  • We extended on children’s interest and hence we explored the topics such as volcanos, colour run experiments – learning primary and secondary colours. The current interest topics are animals and farms, bugs and Dinosaurs.
  • We discussed, implemented and did numerous activities regarding feelings and emotions and red and green choices. It is one of the most important projects we have had and is still in existence.
  • We learnt about ourselves in our ALL ABOUT ME activity which was extended to families, followed by the community, shaping to culture and diversity leading towards the HARMONY celebration. We also had a brief discussion about Native Australians and will be exploring in depth in upcoming year.
  • We incorporated sustainability practices by caring for our environment and not wasting resources.
  • Up coming celebration – RAMADAN.
  • Literacy—Jolly phonics focus letters learnt S, A, T, P—children identifying sounds, naming the letter, capable of recognising if in their names and practiced writing it. Several activities were conducted in the process of learning these letters.
  • Numeracy—Numbers 0-10 (In progress), quantities, days of the week, months of the year (In progress).
